A long time coming

River at Marquis on a Friday 45" x 45" Acrylic

After Hurricane Ivan many of the favourite hiking paths were blocked, then overgrown with vines, then life takes over, and ten years had gone by.  SMH.  So a recent Friday afternoon found me sitting on a rock, listening to frogs, watching fish in the river, and being greeted by a very curious mongoose. Life on the Spice Island goes on.

Country Morning

Susan Mains Country Morning Acrylic 16" x 20"

Imagine waking up to this idylic Caribbean View. But we know its not idylic–it is Caribbean Agricultural land, so there is always work to be done. Cocoa or nutmeg to pick, forking, weeding, harvesting–hard work for sure–but to breathe in this pure air with just a hint of green, and to be thankful for another day on this blessed island.

Grenada love of life!

Grenada Country Morning 16" x 24" Acrylic 2012

Diptych

St. George's Carenage 24" x 30" Acrylic 2012The reason this looks familiar is because it is.  Deeply embedded in our collective psyche, the Carenage is the heart beat of our spice island.  Dearly loved, never forgotten.
